PICKERING HOCKEY ASSOCIATION
Tournament Rules REVISED DATE: Nov. 3, 2009
1. Referee's decision is final.
2. No protests allowed.
3. All fighting majors will result in immediate suspension, from the tournament, foroffending player.
4. Penalties given to Team Coaching Staff, that would result in suspensions undernormal league play, will result in immediate removal of that individual for thebalance of the Tournament.
5. All O.M.H.A. rules will apply.6. All teams must register their team at either Don Beer Arena or the Pickering Recreation Centre prior ot their 1st game.
7. Be prepared to start your games 15 minutes early. 8. Games will consist of periods of 10/10/10 for Mite/Tyke 10/10/15 up to Atom and 10/15/15 Minor Peewee and up. 9. If there is a 5 goal spread or greater in the 3rd period of Round Robin games, the clock will be allowed to run. If the spread becomes less than 5 goals, the clock will revert to stop time. 10. We use a five (5) point scoring system: 1 point for a period won, 1/2 point for a period tied, 2 points to the game winner or 1 point each for a tied game. 11. Ties count in Round Robin play. 12. Ties in Round Robin Standings will be broken as follows: A) Winner of game between tied teams. B) Best Plus/Minus. C) Fewest Goals Against. D) Most Goals For. E) Fewest Penalty Minutes. 13. Overtime in Elimination games, 1/4 Finals &/or Semi-Finals will consist of a shootout. 3 shooters per team, simultaneous shootout. The team with the most goals is the winner. If tied, a sudden death simultaneous shootout will occur until a winner is decided. No shooter can shoot twice until all players have taken a shot. 14. Overtime in Finals will consist of one(1) 5-minute Sudden Death period. If still tied: 1-minute 4 skaters, 1-minute 3 skaters, 1 minute 2 skaters, 1 minute 1 skater. Rotation to start over until a winner. 15. One 30 second time-out per game per team in finals only. 16. Prior to the start of each game 12 minutes will be put up on the game clock, immediately after the Zamboni doors are closed the clock will start to run and will continue to run until the first stoppage of play in the game. 2 minutes of the 12 minutes are for warm up. 17. If a team is scheduled to play a round robin game does not show up to play the game the opposing team will be awarded all (5) five points, if both teams do no show up to play the game both team will receive (0) zero points. If a team schedule to play in a semi-final or final game does not show up to play the game a WIN will awarded to the opposing team.
18. All affiliated players must have played a least one round robin or semi-final game to be eligible to play in the finals of the division championship. 19. All required team documents must be in tournament officials’ possession before playing your second game of the tournament, if these documents are not in tournament officials’ possession before the game starts the team will forfeit the game awarding the WIN or all (5) points to the opposing team.
Documents Required are: 1) A League official signed team roster for the current hockey season 2) A League official signed affiliated players roster for the current hockey season if affiliated player are to be used in the tournament. 3) A Travel Permit for the Tournament if you are not an OMHA team.
